The wait for Verizon Droid X customers is over as the much anticipated Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) update has finally arrived. If the notification regarding the availability of the update hasn’t popped up on your handset status bar, you can do a manual check.
Droid X owners have been eagerly awaiting this OTA upgrade which is packed with several performance improvements (Flash Player 10.1, Automatic App Updates) and bug fixes (3G Mobile Hotspot App, Google Maps).
In the past, several HTC Droid Incredible users have reported performance glitches after they upgraded to Froyo so it will be interesting to see if it fares any better with Droid X devices.
To trigger a manual update on your Droid X handset, choose Settings -> About Phone -> System Updated menu option. If you face any issues during the OTA upgrade, refer to DroidForums.net or DroidXForums.com for help!
